What are Gripples?
Gripples are wire joiners that use a unique gripping mechanism to join and tension wire fencing. They come in various sizes to suit different wire diameters and fence types, including barbed wire, smooth wire, and woven wire. Gripples consist of a body, a locking mechanism, and a wire termination, which together create a robust and secure join. Yes. gripples work with Cameo™ Horse Fence System and can be purchased with your online order.
What makes gripples better than other fence joining methods?
When it comes to installing and tensioning Cameo™ fencing, there are several methods to choose from. These include knots, crimps, and traditional wire joiners. However, in recent years, a new method has emerged that offers several advantages over these traditional methods.
Gripples have become a popular choice for fencing due to their ease of use and durability. Unlike traditional methods, which require specialized tools and equipment, gripples can be easily installed by hand without any special training or experience. This makes them a great choice for DIY projects like Cameo™ saving time and money on installation costs.
One of the key benefits of using gripples for fencing is their strength and reliability. Gripples are made from high-quality materials and are designed to withstand the elements and the stresses of daily use. They provide a secure connection between the fence cord. At Cameo™, we have saved hundreds of hours using gipples on our horse fence installations. They allow us to measure cut and connect without using knots, crimps, and traditional wire joiners.
Another benefit of gripples is their versatility. They can be used with a variety of fence materials, including wire, rope, and mesh, and can be used in a variety of applications, including agricultural, commercial, and residential fencing. As a ranch owner, having a few of these in your pocket while riding fence lines is a must. They can be used quickly to join fence lines back together without any tools.
Gripples are a cost-effective option for fencing. Because they can be easily installed by hand, there is no need for specialized equipment or labor costs, which can save users significant money on installation costs. Additionally, because gripples are so durable, they require little maintenance over time, further reducing long-term costs.
These little life savers are a great choice for anyone looking for a strong, reliable, and cost-effective fencing fix. Their ease of use, durability, and versatility make them a popular choice among farmers, ranchers, and homeowners alike. Whether you're building a new fence or looking to repair an existing one, gripples are an excellent option to consider.

Advantages of using gripples.
-
Ease of Installation
One of the most significant advantages of using gripples for fencing is their ease of installation. Gripples are easy and quick to install, reducing installation time and labor costs. Unlike traditional wire joiners, which require multiple steps and tools, gripples can be installed with just one tool. This means that even those with limited fencing experience can easily install gripples, saving both time and money.
-
Consistent and Precise Tension
Another advantage of using gripples for fencing is that they provide consistent and precise tension. Traditional wire joiners, such as knots and crimps, can be difficult to tension correctly, resulting in an uneven and unreliable fence. Gripples, on the other hand, use a unique locking mechanism that ensures consistent and precise tension. This results in a better-looking fence that is more secure and reliable.
-
Reusable
Gripples are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective solution for fencing. Traditional wire joiners, such as knots and crimps, are often one-time use only, meaning that they must be replaced every time the fence needs to be repaired or modified. Gripples, however, can be easily removed and reused, reducing waste and saving money in the long run.
-
Versatile
Gripples are also highly versatile and can be used with a variety of fence types, including barbed wire, smooth wire, woven wire and of course Cameo™ cord. This means that regardless of your fencing needs, gripples can provide a reliable and efficient solution.
How to Use Gripples for Fencing?
Using gripples for fencing is a straightforward process that requires only a few tools and materials. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Gather Your Materials and Tools
To use gripples for fencing, you will need the following:
- Gripples
- Pliers to pull cording
- Wire cutters
- Cameo™ Fence Cording
Step 2: Install the Gripple Bodies
Once The first step is to install the gripple bodies onto the fence line. The gripple bodies are the parts that grip the cord and create the tension. To install the gripple bodies, thread the cord through the hole in the body and twist it a few times to create a loop. Then, insert the cord into the other end of the gripple body and twist it a few times to secure it. Repeat this process for each gripple body along the fence line, making sure to leave enough slack to tension the cord.
Step 3: Install the Gripple Locking Mechanisms
Once you have installed the gripple bodies, it's time to add the locking mechanisms. The locking mechanisms are the parts that lock the cord into the gripple body, creating the tension. To install the locking mechanisms, insert them into the gripple bodies and push them down until they click into place. Make sure the locking mechanisms are facing the same direction as the cord.
Step 4: Tension the Cord
Now that the gripple bodies and locking mechanisms are in place, it's time to tension the cord. Find the end post, detatch the end of the cord line and pull by hand. Then secure the cord back to the end post. Repeat this process for each gripple along the fence line, making sure to maintain even tension.
Step 5: Cut the Excess Cord
Once the cord is tensioned, use wire cutters to cut the excess cord, leaving approximately 1-2 inches of cord protruding from the gripple and end post. This will allow you to easily install future gripple bodies if needed.
Step 6: Repeat for Additional Fencing Lines
If you have multiple fencing lines, repeat the process for each line.
Gripples are a versatile and cost-effective solution for almost any fencing project. They offer several advantages over traditional wire joiners. Using fencing gripples is an excellent way to improve the efficiency and reliability of your Cameo™ horse fencing project. By following the simple steps outlined above and using the high-quality fencing gripples, you can create a secure and durable fence that will stand the test of time.
