Safe Horse Fencing

Horse fencing is an essential component of horse ownership. A good horse fence keeps horses safe and contained within designated areas. However, traditional wire fences can be dangerous for horses, as they can easily get caught in the wire or suffer injury if they run into the fence. Monofilament line fencing offers a safer alternative, as it is more flexible and visible to horses.

Apopular and effective monofilament line fencing is Cameo. Cameo fencing is made from a high-tensile polyethylene monofilament line that is extremely pliable, yet durable.White in color, the line is also highly visible to horses;preventing the horse from running through the fence. However, horses can be assertive, and in such cases where they test the line, Cameo stretchesup to 20%, gently containing them. With up to 1200 lbs of breaking strength, your horse must be quite forceful in order to break the line. If a break in the line does occur, Cameo yields enough so as not to cause lacerations. What’s more, the line can be easily “re-attached” with a Cameo link.

Installing Cameo fencing is a relatively easy process that can be done by most homeowners. The first step is to clear the area where the fence will be installed. This includes removing any trees, bushes or other obstacles that may interfere with the installation process. Next, you will need to mark out the area where the fence will be installed, using either wooden stakes or spray paint.

Cameo fencing comes with pre-wound spools of line, which are relatively lightweight and make installation a breeze. Starting with your bottom line, measure up and mark the location of your first insulator, attach insulators at the same level point on each post. Thread the line through the posts/post insulators, and pull tension (pulling the sag out of the line). Finally, thread the beginning of the line throughan anchor (One Way Vise) and pull tight, cutting spare line and attaching to or around the post. Continue this process for 5 to 6 lines up the fence post, as desired.

Cameo fencing is safe, simple, and affordable. This monofilament line is highly visible and flexible, creating unblemished sight-lines and beautiful pastures. If you're looking for a straightforward and effective way to fence your horse, Cameo fencing is worth your time and consideration.
