Flex Post

The Simplicity of this Post is hard to explain, until you have had one in your hands! The Flex Post The Ultimate Line Post for Electric Fencing The Flex Post is intended to be used as a line post for electric fencing and the combination of "CAMEO" and your choice of electric line.

  • Adequate stiffness with superior flexural strength.
  • Low density allows for less weight and easy installations.
  • Handles like wood, using conventional woodworking tools.
  • Drills easily. Simple cotter pin wire attachment.
  • Drives into the ground with conventional post drivers.
  • Non-conductive. Resistant to moisture, decay and insects. UV inhibitors are standard additives. No hazardous materials present in the material. No drilling or sawing dust hazards. No splinters, slivers or need to wear gloves when handling.
  • 20 year manufacturer's warranty.
  • Available in white, black (fades to grey) and light brown.

Flex Posts are manufactured as a Wood Plastic Composite (WPC), however it is the 2nd Generation of WPC, in that it is "Oriented". It is comprised of approximately 30% wood flour (fiber) and the balance of 70% is comprised of Polypropylene and selected additives including UV inhibitors, color pigments, etc. It has a lower density and higher physical properties than 1st generation WPC. In this patented / licensed process this material becomes stronger, stiffer and less dense - with a grain, much like wood.

The term orientation is used to refer to thermoplastic polymers that have been processed in such a way as to straighten its polymer chain backbone. This is a patented and licensed process and in general terms, it gives the post a grain, much like wood. We want to emphasize the importance of the orientation process and the benefits it provides in making this product as tough and durable as it is. Without this orientation, this product would not be in a "field of its own".

Installation

The posts can be driven with any manual post driver, just like you would use for driving steel t-posts. You will notice that they have a little more spring (bounce) to them, but we feel that if you can drive a steel t-post you can drive a Flex post. In extremely hard or rocky soil, we suggest a pilot driver shown below. However, if you have good soil conditions and few rocks, you will not need one. You will be less fatigued after driving100 Flex posts, than you will with the other alternatives.

Drilling Flex Posts: We recommend drilling posts after installed. They drill quite easily with a standard cordless drill. The posts when driven are very hard to turn, so if you get off when driving them your cotter pins will not be square with the fence and cause you some problems. The cotter pins we sell are 13 gauge, class III. You want to drill a hole that just allows the pin to go through. Do NOT oversize the hole. A 3/16" hole is adequate.

Cotter Pin Installation Suggestion: When you bring the cotter pin tail back around the post, do NOT cinch it up tight and also make sure that the fence line has free travel thru the pin. We have observed that it often can get cinched up too tight and when the post bends with pressure from tree limbs, wildlife, etc, that the binding of the cotter pin does not allow for the post to return upright. In the photo above you can see that the tails of the cotter pin are wrapped around the post and BETWEEN the post and the wire. This closes off the V'd portion of the cotter pin eye and allows for minimal resistance.
